Our commitment to improving access to Novartis medicines. Patients are the reason for what we do.
At Novartis, our mission is to help improve people's lives by pioneering health care treatments, which include researching and developing innovative prescription medicines. We also provide access programs for patients who lack prescription drug coverage or cannot afford their Novartis prescriptions.
Millions of patients around the world benefit from Novartis initiatives that include: drug donation and research programs; combatting neglected diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and leprosy in developing nations; and providing patient assistance programs that help cancer patients receive ground-breaking treatments.
Last year, we contributed more than $1.7 billion through our access-to-medicines programs, reaching 89.6 million patients around the world. In the United States alone, Novartis has provided over $412 million in free medication to more than 107,000 patients through the Novartis Patient Assistance Foundation, Inc. We also offer support programs and services to eligible patients who have prescription drug coverage.
Outside of the US, Novartis has created pioneering access programs through partnerships with the World Health Organization (WHO), and other agencies and nongovernmental organizations. Through multilateral institutions and public-private partnerships, we are donating our antimalarial drug globally without profit. We also supply free treatment to help eliminate leprosy through a partnership with WHO. Click here to learn more.
