Understanding the New Changes

On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which represents the most significant revision of health care in the United States in decades. Opponents of the law have sought to repeal and defund the ACA and have filed legal challenges in an attempt to have the law declared unconstitutional. None of these efforts have slowed the implementation of key provisions in 2011, which follow a handful of early benefits rolled out in 2010. ACA reforms include insurance reforms, Medicare improvements, increased access to care through the expansion of eligibility for Medicaid, and the creation of new health insurance exchanges.
